RATIONALE
“Continental Drift” is a conceptual garden that investigates natural habitats and the varying landscapes around the world. This garden comprises of two overlapping triangular roof structures stacked around a single shared axis. The upper roof is planted with arid species and represents a hot landscape exposed directly to the sun, with limited water availability. Beneath this, the roof, which is partially shaded, is planted with temperate species. From here, a cascade of water drops down a stone buttress wall and into a pool below. At ground level, the planting is sub-tropical. Mister units held in the underside of the roofs above create a humid and damp environment.
“Continental Drift” aims to be an exciting visual exhibit which addresses the issue of habitat and environmental concerns.
